Summary
Have you heard about the man from India who plans to sue his parents for being born without his permission? The remedy he seeks is lifetime financial support. Everyone sees this man, Raphael Samuel, as somewhere between being the most entitled person on earth, or simply a lunatic. Perhaps both.
We’ll look at Mr. Samuels’ demands of his parents, and compare them with the Green New Deal’s demands of American taxpayers.
The Green New Deal, among other things, requires:
“4.15 providing all of the people of the United States with–
(i) high-quality health care;
(ii) affordable, safe and adequate housing;
(iii) economic security; and
(iv) access to clear water, clean air, healthy and affordable food, and nature.”
Pause for clarification: Robert Hockett, Cornell law professor and adviser to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, has admitted, after several previous denials, that an official “Green New Deal” document posted by Ocasio-Cortez’s office contained a guarantee of economic security even for those “unwilling to work”
Turns out that Mr. Samuels is too modest in his demands of his parents. Perhaps he should amend his parental lawsuit, substituting the Green New Deal language. It would get even better for Mr. Samuels when you look at the dozens of other requirements in the Resolution–as we will in this podcast.
This Resolution, a “10-year national mobilization”
is backed by many leading names in the Democratic party, including currently leading candidates for the Democratic nomination, with Rep Ocasio-Cortez, D-NYC, Sen Ed. Markey, D-NY, Sen Elizabeth Warren, D-NY, Sen Kamala Harris, D-CA, Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY and Sen Cory Booker, D-NJ.
For the next 10 minutes, we will unpack what this kind of thinking, this type of plan for our nation, would mean to us, our communities and America.

We’ll look at Mr. Samuels’ demands of his parents, and compare them with the Green New Deal’s demands of American taxpayers.

Today’s Key Point: When we look at climate change, here’s the first and most useful question we can ask: “Is there a cure that is not worse than the disease?” And to answer that, we need facts. Yes, those pesky things. Courts call facts “evidence” and there are rules for evidence. The main rule is that the fact in question must be provable, not just stated repeatedly and with passion.
Here are a few of the demands this Resolution makes:
The Resolution also call for massive and continuing taxpayer investments in green technology, with government ownership of at least some of the businesses, along with demands for high-quality union jobs.
We can all be forgiven if we thought this was about climate change. And I am just scratching the surface in this podcast of what the Green New Deal is really about. The more you read it, and I urge you to do just that, you’ll see the Green New Deal is clearly about changing America into a government-run, socialist enterprise. Remember, this is not sponsored by one or two politicians on the fringe. This has the backing of powerful Senators, inducing Senators who have a chance of becoming the President.
Regardless of its powerful supporters, this New Deal is unlikely to survive even if implemented; it will drown under the weight of its own costs. Rep Ocasio-Cortez dismisses all cost-related questions and challenges, implying that since we will all be dead in 12 years if we don’t do something, that cost is irrelevant. Most supporters are not ready to say that we have only 12 years left if we don’t take these recommended actions now, but that is what they are implying. Alarmism is drowning out, pun intended, hard facts. Here’s one of the few hard facts that I see: Since 1860, world-wide temperatures have risen 1.5 degrees Celsius. Is that a cause for apocalyptic action?
Pause for the truth: The Green New Deal is not about climate change; it is a power grab by certain politicians and their party.
Take a look at the geographic concentration of the sponsors and supporters of the Green New Deal resolution: They are all from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts or California. Perhaps they should implement the Green New Deal controls on themselves, and let the rest of the states choose their own paths. After all, those who support the Paris Accords on climate change are okay with the US limiting emissions, while China is allowed to expand emissions for the next several years. Pause for a “Thank you” to the Founders who gave equal Senate representation to all states, regardless of geography or size, and for the Electoral college, which was part of that same protective thinking.
As a final thought, if you think that Mr. Samuels is over the top and entitled in his demand that his parents support him forever for the sin of giving him life without his permission, what are your thoughts about the Green New Deal? One thought is that it is a class-action version of Mr. Samuels’s lawsuit; with leading politicians in full support.
All of this ties to the core, driving principles at Revolution 2.0, which are:
If we apply those two core principles simultaneously, never only one or the other, we will always be on the right path. Depending upon what we face, one principle or the other may appropriately be given more emphasis, but they are always acted upon together.
The Founders, Revolution 1.0, were declared traitors by the British Crown, and their lives were forfeit if caught. We risk very little by stepping up and participating in Revolution 2.0™. .
